The purpose of this study is to describe the thinking process of students with high, medium, and low mathematical abilities in solving mathematical problems. This type of research is qualitative research. The data collection methods used are Tests, Interviews, and Documentation. The data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, conclusion, and verification. The results of the study indicate that (1) Students with high mathematical abilities can understand the questions well, plan and complete the steps of the solution correctly, and recheck. (2) Students with medium mathematical abilities can understand the questions well, and plan the steps of the solution, but have not been able to solve the problem correctly and do not recheck. (3) Students with low mathematical abilities do not understand the questions given, cannot plan the steps of the solution and cannot solve the problem correctly and do not recheck. Based on the results of the study, it is concluded that the level of mathematical ability possessed by each student greatly influences the thinking process in solving the given Linear Equation System of two Variables.
