Abstract
The problem in this study is whether applying the discussion method can improve the learning outcomes of fourth grade students in social studies subjects at the Magekoba SDK, Detukeli District. This study uses a classroom action research (CAR) design. Using an instrument in the form of a learning outcome evaluation test. The results of first cycle showed that students and teachers in learning activities for the average level of classical completion was 45.00% and individual absorption 60.91%. In the second cycle, it increased to 80.00% classical completion and 81.90% individual absorption, and for the assessment of student observations in the first cycle, 57.14 increased to 92.86 for the second cycle, for teacher observation assessment in the first cycle 67.86 increased in the second cycle to 89.29. Based on the analysis of the test results on the pre-action for classical completion of 30.00% and individual absorption of 67.06%, in the first cycle 11 students who completed 11 out of 20 students, completed classically 45.00% and individual absorption capacity of 60.91%, while in Cycle II students who completed 18 of 20 students, completed 90.00% classical and classical absorption was 82.90%. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the use of the discussion method can improve student learning outcomes in class IV SDK Magekoba, Detukeli District in social studies learning.
