Abstract
This research is a classroom action research conducted to increase the activity and learning outcomes of students in learning science. The research problem is formulated as follows: 1) How is the application of the Numbered Heads Together cooperative learning model in science learning in class VIII SMPN 1 Haju? 2) How is the science learning achievement of class VIII students of SMPN 1 Haju after applying the Numbered Head Together cooperative learning model? The research method in this study is a mixture of qualitative and quantitative approaches in which a qualitative approach is used to observe the implementation of learning in order to assess and reflect on the process of implementing the action, while a qualitative approach is used to calculate activity scores, grades and percentages of student learning completeness. The results showed that there was an increase in learning completeness from only 6 people (24%) on the initial test to 12 people (56.5%) in cycle I or an increase of 32.5%, and then an increase of 43.5% again. completed 100% in cycle II. Thus it was concluded that the cooperative learning model of the Numbered Head Together (NHT) type is very appropriate to use to improve student learning outcomes.
