Abstract

The main problem in this study is whether the abacus learning media can improve mathematics learning outcomes in arithmetic operations material for 2nd grade students of SD Inpres Ropa, Maurole District. This study aims to improve mathematics learning outcomes on arithmetic operations material for 2nd grade students of SD Inpres Ropa, Maurole District. This type of research is class action research (Class Action Research) which consists of two cycles where each cycle is carried out in four meetings. The research instruments needed in this classroom action research are learning implementation plans (RPP) and assessment sheets. Data collection techniques used are tests and observations. This research includes quantitative and qualitative research. Research procedures include planning, implementation of action, observation and reflection. The subjects in this study were 10 grade 2 students at SD Inpres Ropa, Maurole District. The results showed that in the first cycle that was completed individually out of 10 students only 4 students or 40% met the minimum completeness criteria (KKM) or were in the very low category. Whereas in cycle II where out of 10 students there were 8 students or 80% had fulfilled the KKM. Based on the results of the research above, it can be concluded that the mathematics learning outcomes of Class 2 students at SD Inpres Ropa, Maurole District through the use of the abacus media have increased.
