Optimalisasi Media Komunikasi Dinas Kehutanan dan Lingkungan Hidup Provinsi Bali dalam Edukasi Pengelolaan Sampah

Abstract

Waste management remains a major environmental challenge in Bali Province, requiring continuous educational efforts to improve public awareness of waste segregation at its source. One effective approach is the development of visual communication media that can convey environmental messages in a clear and engaging manner. This community service activity aimed to develop an educational poster on organic and inorganic waste segregation as a visual communication medium to support environmental education during the Bali Arts Festival (Pesta Kesenian Bali/PKB). The activity was conducted through the Field Work Practice (Praktik Kerja Lapangan/PKL) program at the Bali Provincial Forestry and Environment Agency using a descriptive qualitative approach. The implementation stages included observation and identification of media needs, data collection, concept development, poster design using Canva, consultation, revision, and design finalization. The activity resulted in an educational poster designed according to the institution's communication needs by applying visual communication design principles to produce informative, attractive, and easily understood educational media. The use of Canva facilitated an efficient design process and supported the development of communicative visual elements. The final poster is expected to be utilized by the Bali Provincial Forestry and Environment Agency as a supporting medium for public education on waste management. The development of this visual communication medium demonstrates that collaboration between university students and government institutions can contribute to the provision of relevant educational media for strengthening environmental communication.
