Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism Policy

The Editorial Team of Jurnal Riset Ilmu Akuntansi (JRIA) recognizes that plagiarism is unacceptable and has therefore established the following policy, which sets out specific actions (sanctions) to be taken when plagiarism is identified.

Definition
Plagiarism is the intentional or unintentional act of obtaining, or attempting to obtain, credit or recognition for a scholarly work by citing part or all of another party’s work and presenting it as one’s own, without properly and adequately acknowledging the source.

Policy
Articles must be original, previously unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Material quoted verbatim from other sources must be clearly identified and distinguished from the original text.

All manuscripts submitted to JRIA are checked for similarity using plagiarism detection software, such as Turnitin (www.turnitin.com) and Grammarly (www.grammarly.com).

If plagiarism is identified, the Editor-in-Chief is responsible for reviewing the article and will determine the appropriate action based on the level of plagiarism detected, in accordance with the following guidelines:

Levels of Plagiarism and Sanctions

  1. Minor plagiarism: Copying a few short sentences from another article without acknowledging the source.
Action: The author receives a warning and is asked to revise the text and cite the source properly.
  2. Major plagiarism: Copying a substantial portion of another article without proper citation or acknowledgment of the source.
Action: The manuscript is rejected for publication in JRIA, and the author(s) may be barred from submitting to JRIA.
  3. Shared responsibility: All authors are responsible for the content of the manuscript submitted to JRIA. If a manuscript is found to contain plagiarism, the same sanctions apply to all authors.
  4. Duplicate submission: If an author is found to have submitted a manuscript to JRIA while simultaneously submitting it to another journal, and this overlap is discovered during the review process or after publication, the sanctions for major plagiarism (point 2) will apply.
  5. Other cases: If other forms of plagiarism not covered above are identified, the editors reserve the right to impose sanctions in accordance with the editorial team’s policy.
